West Alabama Regional Commission is made up of representatives from the seven counties and 37 municipalities in Region 2. The commission is governed by an executive committee and a board of directors.
WARC receives its funding from federal matching grants, member government dues, an annual appropriation from the State of Alabama, and contract fees. The scope of the commission's work includes nutrition and assistance programs for the elderly, a part-time employment program for low income senior citizens, economic and community development, a revolving loan program, transportation planning, technical assistance, tourism promotion, and public information.
