Locally owned and operated, the Great Lakes Shipping Company opened its doors to Kalamazoo in June of 1974. Offering the area's first taste of slow-roasted prime rib, choice aged steaks and a unique salad bar, Great Lakes was an immediate and welcome success. That tradition continued with the addition of fresh seafood, chicken, and pasta.
The Great Lakes Shipping Company has evolved within a philosophy of providing creative preparations of high quality foods and professional service in a relaxed, comfortable environment. In our latest menu, we've combined regional favorites and updated classics. As always, our commitment to quality remains uncompromised.
Our dining room serves dinner seven days a week beginning at five o'clock each day, while the tavern opens at four Monday through Friday. Sorry, we're not open for lunch. We spend all day making sure your dinner will be perfect.
So whether you're celebrating a special occasion with a bottle of cabernet next to one of our dining room fireplaces, or its just a quick trip to the salad bar and a sandwich in the tavern after a show, you can always count on the Great Lakes Shipping Company, a Kalamazoo tradition for over thirty-five years.
