General information

Back in 2014, Onlea.org spun off from the University of Alberta after its first MOOC, Dino 101, became the first free MOOC to more than triple completion rates (from 5% to 19%) and achieve gender balance in a science course cohort.

Since then, Onlea has grown and is a thriving part of the artistic, eclectic, DIY scene in downtown Edmonton, Alberta.
Today we use our experiences in gamification, online consumer behaviour, pedagogy, film making and software development to produce some of the most highly rated digital learning, apps, MOOCs, and specializations available.

Onlea creates learning apps based on new or existing digital courses or MOOCs. We are passionate about connecting learning to our online world. We don’t believe in a $100+ textbook. We embrace the interactive gestures mobile devices give learners. We want the practice time a mobile learning app gives us. We want to learn in the order that makes sense to us. We believe the textbook of the future is an app. We create free and freemium learning apps based on our clients’ courses.

We have a passion for quality that for us means producing digital learning where the learner is really engaged, reacting and responding to her learning. We believe that education can and must be democratized so that all people, whatever their age, location, or socio-economic situation can participate.
