General information
'Tateni Community Care Services' is a non-governmental organization (NGO) providing a holistic care and support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) and empowering youth and the elderly in Mamelodi and its surrounding informal settlements. In short, our beneficiaries are children (orphans and vulnerable), youth and the elderly.
Operationally, we access our beneficiaries through 10 Drop-in Centres, mostly located in primary schools.
It is thus through these centres that Tateni effectively managed to work directly with families of these children. In addition to providing daily meals to our children, we give them support on school work and involve them in other psychosocial activities to make sure that they are able to live normally with other children.
Our youth are classified into In-School and Out of School Youth. For our In-School youth we work with Grades 10 and 11 mainly from our three partner schools: Mamelodi High School, Vlakfonteing Technical High School and Repafoghile Secondary School. With Out-of School youth we facilitate life skills programmes and learnerships. We also encourage them to volunteer within Tateni.
