We are delighted to have become part of Pre-school Learning Alliance as of 1 April 2015.

What happens at Hitchin and Rurals Children’s Centres?

Our Centres are places where everyone is valued and ideas are encouraged. We bring together different support agencies to offer a wide range of services to meet you and your child’s needs. We provide somewhere that your child can make friends and learn as they play and you can get professional advice on health and family matters, learn about training and job opportunities or just socialise with other people. A range of professionals outreach workers are available to provide quality support and advice. Our highly trained and qualified Centre staff will also help parents by linking families with other providers in the local area. Our services are available to you from pregnancy right through to when your child goes into reception class at primary school, 0-5 years.

We offer : -

•child and family health services, ranging from breastfeeding support to stop smoke support
•high quality childcare and early learning
•advice on parenting, local childcare options and access to specialist services such as speech therapy, healthy eating advice or help with managing money
•help for you to find work or training opportunities, using links to local Jobcentre Plus offices and training providers
•a variety of children and family activities, courses and groups

Find out all the things you and your family can join in with Our Centres. You’ll be amazed at how much we have going on! Maybe you’d like to chat with a Midwife, Health Visitor, Nursery Nurse, Speech and Language Therapist, Outreach worker, Early years practitioner, Play specialist, Counsellor, Nutritionist, Job centre plus or Housing expert, all of whom work at the Centre. Where are we?

Our Children’s Centre is on the same site as Oughton School, and we have day care onsite at Early Days Playgroup and offsite at Smartys Day Nursery just along the road. We have lots of things happening at our Centre for families to come and join in with, and we also deliver services to the rural villages of Ickleford, Hollwell, Offley, Pirton, Hexton, Cockernhoe and Lilley from our double decker bus, which has been converted to be a Children’s Centre on wheels!!
