General information
The BDHS was established in 1993 to promote and advance the interest in the discovery, research, conservation and preservation of the histories of Deaf people, their communities, culture and language.
The BDHS also manages and oversees the National Deaf Archives (NDA) which was set up from numerous collections that have been bequeathed or donated to the Society.
Activities include the Research and Publications department which undertakes various projects throughout the year and many books have been published - you can find out more on our website.
Book launches, conferences, seminars and workshops also take place throughout the year. Several discoveries and findings are mentioned in the Society's Deaf History Journal which are published 3 times a year.
