The Robes Project Company Information
General information
The Robes Project was set up in January 2007 to support homeless people by giving them a safe, warm place to sleep, a hot meal and support as they start to rebuild their lives. This is done by churches offering a temporary night shelter during the winter months from November to April of each year for 15 to 20 guests each night.
Approximately 50 people are given support annually.
When a guest joins us we offer them a stay of up to one month when their situation is reviewed. The stability and rest afforded by staying at the night shelter provides a platform for guests to address other issues such as their housing, health, relationships, finances or legal matters.
Our charity has over 400 committed volunteers who run the night shelter in teams. Over 22 church venues are willing to host the project on a rota basis. Without the dedication of the volunteers and churches, the whole project would not be able to operate.
Annually we run fundraising events. The biggest event is our Sleepout at Southwark Cathedral, London Bridge on the last Friday in November. Over the past four years this event has raised over £250,000 which has been crucial to the continuation of the vital work of Robes Project.
