I created STARTfit in 2013 having left the Royal Air Force to start a career in health, fitness and rehabilitation. Throughout my journey it amazed me that so many businesses and products offered weight loss services for men and women based around the 'quick-fix', and what amazed me even more was that the same people kept returning to the same services year after year to lose the weight they subsequently put back on!

Often these programmes are unsustainable and life, well, it just get's in the way! Real success, that is, the routine that just feels normal everyday, really starts with the mind. Actually knowing and understanding about carbs, fats, and proteins in the body (not just eating what you're told) is incredibly empowering and really can help shift that mindset when you choose you food. Not just that but knowing how to cook delicious, mouthwatering clean meals (... no salads in sight here thank you) that the whole family can enjoy. Understanding why we sometimes feel too lethargic to exercise; knowing when to recognise those moments when your brain tries to tempt you off track, and more importantly being able to take back control, so that you aren't just following, you're learning.
