In January 2012 Moduloc® became a part of Rotalec and with that association came the technical support and knowledge of one of North Americas most diverse companies. The Moduloc® strategic mission has expanded from product manufacture to project design and development and includes research and development of new products and applications. Key Products

Pathfinder Digital Scanner HMD:
Utilizing the latest technology for precise high speed monitoring of hot product regardless of size, profile or temperature. Not affected by changes in background IR as automatic background analysis is incorporated. This is the ideal detector for difficult and critical detection needs such as furnace exit, run-out tables and cut to length.

Series 85100 Hot Metal Detectors:
Self-Contained “All-in-One” design. 110VAC or 24VDC connection, selectable I.R. trip levels and response times to ensure precise operation in all areas, Relay output and selectable PNP or NPN transistor output.

Series 95100 Hot Metal Detectors:
Similar features to the series 8100 but remote mounted controller utilizing fiber optic leads & remote stainless steel lenses for 400°C ambient temperatures.

Laser Thickness Gauge:

This MD82100 Gauge is purpose built for determining the thickness of cold product of up to 25mm thickness on the line to an accuracy of 4 to 8 micron depending on model selected. This Gauge utilizes Class II Laser Triangulation Meters to determine strip thickness. Thickness is calculated from the difference between the measured distance from lower and upper Lasers. The MD82100 measures continuously with a fast 1-10 kHz update rate over the complete length of the passing material and will also detect joins between welded coils for removal later in the process. There are Class II Lasers within the MD82100 however there is no need for a Safety Officer, nor protective measures against emitted radiation.

The MD83200 hot gauge is purpose built to determine the thickness of the hot plate at the Reversing Stand in the Plate Mill. The Gauge utilizes Class II Laser Triangulation Meters to determine both the thickness of the plate and at the same time to automatically calibrate off a Certified master plate sample that identifies distortions in the Gauge Frame due to ambient and radiant heat changes. In addition, the frame temperature is monitored by implanted thermocouples that are used in the Gauge Controller algorithms. This means that the gauge automatically compensates for any variations and provides high-resolution thickness measurement regardless of the effect of such influences. Whilst other Thickness Gauges are unable to provide accurate measurement off both thick and thin plate and require calibration for the various steel alloys, this Gauge operates over a wide plate thickness range, as well as measuring turn-up, and is totally unaffected by alloy content, of course there are no harmful x-ray or radioactive isotopes which have previously been prevalent in this type of application.
