Established in 1998, Durable Hardwoods is a South Australian family owned and operated business supplying quality timber species for most internal and external applications for your residential and commercial timber requirements. Some of the species we supply are- Spotted gum- 2-8 weeks supply time depending on grade required. Historically used for structural purposes due to it's high strength rating and durability. Not recommended for joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors etc, due to high shrinkage and tendency to twist, bow and crack. Available in f27 k/d m.c. 15-18%. Structural grade, Unseasoned f17 and architectural grade m.c. 10-12% k/d Suitable, superior substitute- Merbau f27 select grade. class 1. Durability.a/g class. 2. i/g Blackbutt- 2-8 weeks supply time depending on grade required. Historically used for structural purposes due to it's high strength rating and durability. Not recommended for joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors etc, due to high shrinkage and tendency to twist, bow and crack. Available is f27 k/d m.c. 15-18%. Structural grade, Unseasoned f17 and architectural grade m.c. 10-12% k/d Suitable, superior stability and colour substitute for joinery- PNG Rosewood select grade. class 1. Durability a/g. Ironbark- 3-8 weeks supply time depending on grade required. Historically used for structural purposes due to it's high strength rating and durability. Not recommended for joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors etc, due to high shrinkage and tendency to twist, bow and crack. Available Unseasoned f17 or f14. Suitable, superior substitute for joinery- PNG Rosewood select grade. class 1. Durability a/g. or Merbau f27 select grade- for joinery or structural. Native White Cypress- Some packs usually in stock. 3-5 working days from order, for most 50mm sections.3-4 weeks for other sections. Historically used for structural purposes due to natural termite resistance and durability. Not recommended for joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors etc, due to tendency to twist, bow and crack if not seasoned or installed correctly. Available Unseasoned f7. Suitable, superior substitute for joinery- PNG Rosewood select grade. class 1. Durability a/g. Merbau (PNG Kwila) Stocked in most sections. 7-10 working days from order if not in stock. Used for structural and joinery purposes due to it's high strength rating , stability and durability. Recommended for all joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors, decking, structural posts- beams etc. Available a/d or k/d f17-f27 PNG Rosewood-Stocked in most sections. 7-10 working days from order if not in stock. Recommended for joinery- bench-tops, handrails, stairs, windows, doors, decking, flooring, beams etc. Available a/d or k/d f17. OUR Policy- We supply timber that is appropriate for the job. To do this we need to know what the timber is being used for and your prior experience with the timber and its installation. We do not have price lists because our timbers are generally not commodities available from hardware stores or common timber merchants. We price by job- lot, by quality, quantity and to specification. This is why it is not always an instant process to quote you.
