General information

At Kinderen, our intention is to be an extension of your family and you to be an extension of ours. We are a small family-owned and operated business that is more than just a Childcare Centre - we are a home.

The little centre is like going to Grandma's with good healthy, yummy food provided for all meals, spaces for all curriculum areas are well utilised and the outdoor playground is a peaceful place for exploration and discovery. Nappies and rest/sleep times are also supplied for each child as needed.

The big centre is a fun and exciting place to be - like going to your favorite aunties house. There are lots of friends to play with and teachers to help extend learning and individual interests with many different resources. This centre runs a 'Transition to School' program that is well researched to provide children with the skills they need to make transitioning to school a smooth and positive process.

The little centre has a 1:3 staff:child ration for under 2 year olds and a 1:4 staff:child ration for over 2 yrs. The big centre has a 1:7 staff:child ratio for all children. These are all better than ministry standards and we believe strongly in the importance for children in having the opportunities created for more nurturing and higher learning this many teachers provides them with.

Both centres offer extra curricular activities on a regular basis. The big centre has a carpentry teacher come in twice a week to work with the children creating whatever they wish to make, sometimes this is big project work like the house in the playground, sometimes it is individual work as each child works on their own theories of how wood and their associated tools work. The big centre takes the 8 oldest children to Kindy-gym in the van every week.
Both centres do baking with the children and then everyone enjoys eating the finished products:).
Both centres also run 'Forest Trips' each week where we use our van to take 8 children (and any parents who are interested) into a forest suited to the learning age, we have 3 destinations available. Here the children are free to explore and discover our natural world, to interact with each other, animals and nature in peaceful ways. They are starting to grow strong bonds with our world and each other through these very popular trips.
