General information
北野天満宮は、菅原道真公（菅公）をおまつりした神社の宗祀（総本社）で天神信仰発祥の地である。親しみを込めて｢北野の天神さま｣と呼ばれています。
平安時代中頃の天暦元年（947）に、京都に住んでいた多治比文子や近江国（滋賀県）比良宮の神主神良種、北野朝日寺の僧最珍らが、当所に神殿を建て、菅公をおまつりしたのが始まりとされます。
