香港青年工業家協會於1989年開始籌組成立，並於1992年正式登記註冊。主要成員來自每年香港工業總會主辦，並由政府高官、工商界領袖、大學校長組成的評審團選出的「香港青年工業家獎」歷屆獲獎者，以及少部份年輕成功工業家所組成。自成立以來，本會一直致力於促進本地的經貿發展，與及香港跟內地和海外的經貿交流合作。
