The GPZ construction group commenced contracting activities in Cyprus in 1956. In 1976 GPZ was registered in Bahrain as a General Contractor. The Bahrain Ministry of Works classifies GPZ as a Grade AA Contractor. GPZ has approved credit and bonding facilities with major international and local banks. GPZ endeavours to be self-sufficient in most key special construction activities and maintains a wide range of in-house facilities.

The company has a significant track record in civil engineering, industrial and infrastructure works, both in Bahrain and Cyprus.

GPZ’s capability covers a wide range of civil engineering activities, including works ranging from simple plant foundations to full turnkey projects, dams and river diversions, utility plants, water treatment facilities and bridge rehabilitation works.

The in-house capacity to fabricate and erect of all types of structural steel and light metalwork and to cut and bend steel reinforcement at the company’s own facilities provides an enhanced capability to undertake a wide range of civil and industrial works.

GPZ owns and maintains a large plant fleet stationed in Bahrain which more than adequately meets all the company’s operational requirements. An ongoing programme of investment, renewal and modernisation is employed across the plant fleet to ensure continual improvement in efficiency.

In heavy civil engineering the company’s experience embraces a number of major dams and river diversions, sewage treatment plants and a power station in Cyprus. In Bahrain the company has undertaken heavy civil engineering works to desalination plants, power stations and sewage treatment plants.

Industrial projects include production facilities for the aluminium industry, electricity distribution, edible oil processing, the logistics industry, cement manufacture and other factory and storage facilities.

The company’s civil and industrial works portfolio includes projects for internationally recognised organisations such as Siemens, Sidem, Hyundai, Savola, Sumitomo, Bahrain Petroleum Company, Alba, and DHL together with various Bahrain Government Ministries.
